The TC-NT2 is a convenient and comprehensive cable tester for network professionals. Its powerful and user-friendly features enable network installers to accurately check pin configurations of various voice and data communication cables. The TC-NT2 includes a master unit that transmits test signals to its corresponding remote terminator to verify cable reliability. It checks continuity and displays wiring configuration up to 300 meters of cable installation. I need it this tool for testing cable when i installed a lan, very easy to use and have tone generator, ill buy the probe tool too.
This tool has helped me find bad connectors when they look good under close inspection. Hook up to your ethernet cable and give it a "twist test" to ensure your connection is good.
However, this tool got the job done that I needed it to do. I'm sure other tools out there do the same thing, it's a pretty simple process. I just used this to map out and test 200+ cat5e drops in a new office we're moving to. With it I was able to identify 4 problem lines, as well as create an accurate outlet map on the floor plan.
However, this unit provides all the basic and necessary features to verify the proper termination and continuity of network cables at a much more affordable price. I now have a private IT services business in semi-retirement and cannot afford the same type of units that the big companies made available. I was empoyed in the private sector for over 35 years supporting IT services including network distribution. I had available network cable testers 3, 4, or 5 times the cost factor of this unit.
There are more sophisticated versions but I just need to check cable connections. When you go out onsite and need to check your connections - this is a handy tool to have. I don't use it much but it's invaluable when I need it.
